Working sketch for installation sculpture (COLA ARTIST GRANT 2023-24)


Repurposed wooden shipping pallet, discarded chair, abandoned shopping cart, a large battered and bruised traffic cone are some of the elements that make up this monument to homeless (the Visible/Invisible) by artist Duane Paul as part of the 2023 COLA exhibit currently on view at Barnsdall Municipal Art Gallery. The artist employs these elements in his Photographic Sculptural Hybrids. Crafted and assembled with biomorphic shapes he sculpts out of repurposed discarded denim layered with painted canvas. The biomorphic shapes referencing the body; come together as monumental living room setting of a coffee table, where sits an explosive vase of the human condition.
